DVA ISI (Individual Structured Interview)
Course Overview
DVA Individual Structured Interview is a mandatory training that
forms the first model of the DVA training programme which also
includes Awareness & Safety & Assessment &
Intervention
The course is designed to equip counsellors with a model of work
to assist recognition and effective response to domestic violence
and abuse and in particular to increase practitioners’ skills and
ability.
Objectives
· Provide background and context to the introduction of the
Individual Structured Interviews and the Responsive Model.
· Make clear the focus on safety and the appropriateness of
services within Relate.
· Gain an understanding of the use of the ISI and how it fits
with the Responsive Model’s focus on safety.
· Be able to link the use of the ISI as a tool with the range of
responses available for the clients.
DVA A&I (Assessment and Intervention)
Course Overview
The DVA A&I training course aims to improve the
quality of service for victims of domestic violence/abuse and their
children and the quality of response to those who abuse their
partners or ex/partners.
The course will equip counsellors with a model of work that
increases their ability to:
· Identify when couple intervention is not safe or suitable;
· Offer safety work through Bridging to Safety
· Offer support and aid motivation to change behaviour in
Bridging to Change
· Make effective referral to more appropriate services.
Objectives
To recognise Relates’ response to DVA in families to be part of
a co-ordinated community response to DVA.
To develop counsellors’ skills in providing a couple
intervention that maintains a focus on safety of vulnerable adults
and their children.
To develop skill and understanding in providing individual
Bridging to Safety and Bridging to Change work.
