Overview:A full day delivered
mostly in workshop format that aims to develop an understanding of
cancer and cancer treatments and their impact on sexuality, sexual
function and relationships. Combining discussion, debate,
small group work and power-point, this high energy day is designed
to give sex therapists insight into the experience, personal
investments and sacrifices along the cancer journey to survivorship
or end of life care.
Objectives:
· To understand
what cancer is and how it develops.
· To understand the
cancer pathway, treatments and
targets.
· To gain insight
into the impact of cancer and cancer treatments on sexuality.
· To understand the
challenges of rehabilitation/survivorship.
· To think about
sexuality at the end of life.
Course structure:Power-point,
small group work, discussion.
Aimed at:
Psychosexual therapists and Couple
counsellors.
Trainer Biography
Sue Lennon (previously Ronaldson) has been a
cancer nurse for more than 20 years, the last 10 of which she has
worked as a Macmillan Nurse Specialist. More recently she has
developed a cancer specific psychosexual therapy service, supported
by Macmillan Cancer Support in North Yorkshire. Sue also is a
partner in http://www.i-said.co.uk/ ,a company
delivering training in sexuality and illness, cancer, disability
and end of life care to health and social care professionals across
the UK. In her spare time she is a wife, mother, dog owner
and allotment gardener.
