Recognising and Understanding Sexual Addiction

Course Description
The day includes a comprehensive explanation of the most up to
date theories of sex addiction and also porn addiction, including
signs and symptoms and common predispositions. It will give
therapists the confidence to recognise clients with an active and
current sexual addiction as well as those who are ‘at risk’ and
provide the tools to guide clients to appropriate sources of
treatment. The day will also explore the impact on partners and
help counsellors recognise cross addictions, sexual anorexia and
co-dependency. A linked second day is available specifically on
working with the couple relationship.
On completion attendees will have a thorough understanding of
sex addiction and be able to recognise and refer appropriately.
Attendees will also have the confidence to support sex addicts and
their loved ones as they work through treatment. .
About the Trainer
Paula Hall is a Relate trained couple counsellor, psychosexual
therapist, young people’s counsellor and family counsellor. She
currently works in private practise and works for the Relate media
team. She is also author of the Relate guides ‘Help Your Children
Cope with Your Divorce’ and ‘How to Have a Healthy Divorce’. She
has a special interest in working with young people and also in
sexual addiction. She provides a sexual addiction treatment group
in Warwickshire as well as working with individuals and couples and
is a founding trustee of ATSAC (Association for the Treatment of
Sexual Addiction & Compulsivity).
