Working with Loss, Hope, and Doing
what is Possible
Trainer: Jim Wilson
Date: March 16 2012
Venue: Scope, London.
Course Overview
This workshop will consider common practice challenges and how
to be useful in the face of loss in its many forms. What is
possible to do in practice will depend on many features not least
the practitioner’s theoretical orientation towards, and personal
experience, of loss. It will also depend largely on the
client/family’s sense of connection with the practitioner and
shared focus of the work together.
Aims
The CPD session will be focused on a systemic orientation to
practice within the theme of loss. The workshop is therefore NOT
solely aimed at addressing bereavement or counselling the bereaved
though this important theme will be included. The linked themes of
LOSS, HOPE and POSSIBILITY will provide the three dimensions of the
workshop to be addressed
Examples from practice will provide an opening to explore the
related themes of loss and hope in therapy with individuals,
couples and families. Tips for practice will be included especially
when we feel lost in loss and hopeless about hope.
