Our Programmes
The Relate Institute offers several programmes
ranging from Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to Higher
Education programmes. The Higher Education programmes, validated by
the University of Hull, evolved from the model of couple
counselling and training developed by Relate over a period of 70
years. Over time the model has integrated various theoretical
concepts and therapeutic strategies which address the inner worlds
and interpersonal communication of people in relationships.
Our range of programmes enables students to
expand their knowledge of working with individuals, couples and
families, on relationship issues or sexual problems. The entry
level programme in our portfolio is the University Advanced
Diploma: Introduction to Couple Counselling. This programme offers
a good foundation to understanding couple counselling. It is the
first stage for developing a career in couple counselling and the
foundation for the progression to Post-graduate Diploma and Masters
levels, which can lead to professional accreditation.
The Relate Institute offers specific pathways
at Post-graduate level which specialise in different theoretical
and practice perspectives. They build on the learning and
experience gained on the University Advanced Diploma and existing
related knowledge by providing advanced training to Masters Level
in Relationship Therapy to people who have already gained the
Introduction to Couple Counselling or equivalent. Each of these
Higher Education programmes is validated by the University of Hull.
The Relate Institute also delivers a range of
CPD courses designed to develop the skills and understanding of
practitioners working with individuals, couples and families on
relationship issues. Further info on CPD programmes can be
